Job Overview

VDOT is seeking a mid-level Network Administrator with at least 5 years of hands-on networking experience to support the Transportation Operations Center. This role involves maintaining enterprise network infrastructure, troubleshooting complex networking issues, implementing Cisco-based solutions, and supporting cybersecurity initiatives.

Candidates should possess strong technical expertise, leadership potential, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and support enterprise LAN, WAN, and Internet infrastructure.
• Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, VLANs, and routing protocols.
• Respond to Tier 1 and Tier 2 network support requests.
• Monitor network availability, utilization, and performance.
• Design network extensions and infrastructure solutions.
• Deploy new network hardware and communications infrastructure.
• Maintain network documentation, inventory, and configuration records.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity and integration issues.
• Support cybersecurity initiatives, threat mitigation, and network security controls.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and field support teams.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of Information Technology experience
• 5+ years of Cisco Routing & Switching
• 5+ years of VLAN Management
• 5+ years of Subnetting
• 3+ years of BGP, OSPF, or other routing protocols
• 2+ years of Network Design
• 2+ years of Integration Troubleshooting
• Bachelor''s Degree and/or relevant industry certifications preferred
• Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
