Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Drupal Web Developer to support a website modernization project focused on homepage redesign, improved website search capabilities, accessibility, content management, and ongoing website maintenance.
The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on Drupal development experience, including front-end development, theming, search integration, accessibility, and troubleshooting.
State Government/Public-Sector Experience is REQUIRED.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Drupal-based websites.
- Support homepage redesign and website modernization initiatives.
- Develop and customize Drupal themes and front-end components.
- Configure and optimize website search functionality using Apache Solr and Drupal Search API.
- Develop responsive and accessible web interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Twig, and PHP.
- Manage and maintain content within the Drupal CMS.
- Implement WCAG and Section 508 accessibility standards.
- Troubleshoot website functionality, performance, and integration issues.
- Support website security, maintenance, and vulnerability remediation.
- Troubleshoot hosting, server, and application-related issues.
- Collaborate with business, design, content, and technical teams.
- Follow development, version control, testing, and deployment best practices.
- Support continuous improvements to website usability, accessibility, search, and performance.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Drupal development.
- State government or public-sector website experience – REQUIRED.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Solr and Drupal Search API – REQUIRED.
- Strong proficiency in:
- HTML
- CSS
- JavaScript
- PHP
- Twig
- Experience with Drupal front-end development and theming.
- Experience with responsive web development.
- Experience implementing WCAG / Section 508 accessibility requirements.
- Experience with Drupal CMS content management.
- Experience with website security, maintenance, and vulnerability remediation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with website redesign and search improvement projects.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Drupal 8/9/10/11.
- Apache Solr search configuration, tuning, and optimization.
- Experience with U.S. Web Design System (USWDS).
- Experience with Acquia Cloud.
- Experience with Composer and Drush.
- Experience with Git.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
- Previous experience implementing Drupal solutions for government or public-sector organizations.
