Nutanix Systems Engineer

Description

We are looking for a Nutanix Systems Engineer to join a collaborative infrastructure team in Lehi, Utah. This Long-term Contract position focuses on maintaining reliable datacenter operations while helping modernize hybrid environments through strong engineering practices, automation, and performance optimization. The role offers the opportunity to work across Linux platforms, Nutanix infrastructure, storage technologies, and cloud-connected systems in a fast-paced setting that values stability, scalability, and teamwork.

Responsibilities:
Administer and improve Linux-based systems that support business-critical applications in the datacenter, with an emphasis on uptime, security, and operational efficiency.
Build and maintain infrastructure automation using Chef, including the creation and support of cookbooks, scripts, and repeatable configuration standards.
Contribute to application and workload movement to cloud environments by assisting with planning, execution, and validation across hybrid platforms.
Oversee Nutanix clusters and related hyperconverged infrastructure, tuning resources and supporting capacity growth as technical needs evolve.
Manage object storage platforms such as Scality and Amazon S3-compatible environments, including replication, backup, and data handling activities.
Monitor platform health with enterprise observability tools, respond to production incidents, and support an on-call rotation while documenting corrective actions.
Partner with developers, cloud engineers, and networking teams to resolve infrastructure issues and align system design with business requirements.
Produce clear technical documentation covering environment configurations, operational procedures, and support knowledge for both on-premises and cloud-connected systems.

Requirements

7+ years of experience in systems engineering across on-premises infrastructure and cloud-integrated environments.
Strong hands-on background in Linux system administration, including troubleshooting, patching, and performance support.
Proven experience working with Nutanix and cluster management within virtualized or hyperconverged infrastructure environments.
Practical automation and scripting skills using tools such as Chef, Bash, Python, Ruby, or PowerShell.
Knowledge of object storage concepts, including Amazon S3-compatible platforms, data replication, and lifecycle management.
Understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, VPNs, VLANs, and firewall-related connectivity concepts.
Experience supporting hybrid or multi-cloud environments and collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
