Lead Unix Engineer

Location: Remote

Duration: 6 Month Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking a Unix/Linux Engineer with experience in configuring and troubleshooting System Security Services Daemon (SSSD), Linux authentication, and enterprise identity integrations. The engineer will support secure OS-level authentication, privilege models, and baseline hardening across a large, complex environment. This role involves developing and implementing security measures, analyzing existing procedures, and recommending changes for enhanced security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure and troubleshoot SSSD, Linux authentication, and enterprise identity integrations.
  • Support secure OS-level authentication, privilege models, and baseline hardening.
  • Troubleshoot authentication failures, caching issues, domain joins, and cross-realm trust problems.
  • Manage PAM stack configurations and sudo policies.
  • Develop and implement security measures for the organization.
  • Analyze existing security procedures and suggest improvements.
  • Minimize security threats by examining infrastructure and devices to identify and resolve security flaws.
  • Modify software permissions to prevent non-authorized use and monitor firewalls and switches.
Required Qualifications

Technical Skills:
  • Experience with System Security Services Daemon (SSSD), Kerberos, LDAP, and AD integration.
  • Proficiency with RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu operating systems.
  • Experience with PAM stack configurations and sudo policy management.
  • Familiarity with Linux hardening and secure access patterns.
  • Automation experience using bash, Puppet, Ansible, or Python.
  • Familiarity with Endpoint Privileged Management solutions.
