Job Description

  • Position: Technical Assistant - Video (With 5+ yrs of Experience)
  • Department: Technical & Film Production Support
  • Institute: MIT School of Film & Television
  • Education: Graduate or Master's degree
  • Experience: Combined technical and creative video expertise


Immediate Joiner will be preferred


We are seeking a skilled and proactive 'Technical Assistant / Demonstrator - Video' to support our film school's technical operations and student projects.


Key Responsibilities

Student & Project Support

  • Guide students through post-production workflows.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during student exercises.
  • Support practical classroom video demonstrations.
  • Maintain creative and technical standard alignment.


Video Editing & Application Management

  • Manage non-linear editing (NLE) software systems.
  • Oversee Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or Avid.
  • Assist with multi-cam setups and sync pipelines.
  • Provide basic software troubleshooting for users.


Transcoding & Asset Management

  • Execute video transcoding across diverse formats.
  • Manage codecs, bitrates, and file containers.
  • Optimize media files for editing performance.
  • Oversee archiving and digital asset ingestion.


Hardware & Studio Maintenance

  • Maintain post-production workstations and hardware peripherals.
  • Calibrate video monitors and color-grading suites.
  • Manage local storage, shared networks, and servers.
  • Report equipment faults to IT infrastructure teams.


Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Graduate or Master's degree in Video, Media, or IT.
  • Portfolio demonstrating creative post-production work.


Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Premiere, DaVinci, or Avid.
  • Deep knowledge of ProRes, H.264, and DNxHR.
  • Understanding of storage systems like NAS or SAN.
  • Mastery of frame rates, resolutions, and aspect ratios.


Soft Skills

  • Strong patience for mentoring student filmmakers.
  • Clear communication skills for technical concepts.
  • Problem-solving mindset under tight production deadlines.
