Senior Database Engineer

We are seeking a Databse Engineer to join a collaborative Platform Engineering team at a leading investment management firm. This role combines production SQL Server support, database architecture, automation, and modern data engineering to help build and maintain scalable, reliable data platforms.

Must Have:

• Support and troubleshoot production SQL Server environments, including performance tuning, blocking, deadlocks, availability, and recovery.
• Optimize SQL queries, execution plans, indexing, and database design.
• Manage database administration activities, including HA/DR, upgrades, patching, security, and monitoring.
• Develop automation using Python, PowerShell, or Bash to streamline database operations.
• Build and enhance ETL/ELT pipelines, data workflows, and automated deployments.
• Contribute to cloud and platform engineering initiatives using AWS, CI/CD, Git, and Terraform.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on architectural improvements, technical solutions, and production support.

• PostgreSQL and/or Snowflake

• 6+ years of work experience with SQL
• 7+ years of work experience with Databases

• Apache Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, or Kafka
• Financial services or investment management industry experience
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to platform architecture

Ideal Candidate: A strong SQL Server engineer who enjoys hands-on production troubleshooting but also has the development, automation, and cloud engineering skills to contribute to modern data platform initiatives.
