Job Title: Windows COBOL Developer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Windows COBOL Developer to support, maintain, and enhance mission-critical legacy applications running in a Windows environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in COBOL development, relational databases, batch processing, and application modernization. The candidate should be capable of analyzing business requirements, troubleshooting production issues, and delivering high-quality software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL applications on Windows platforms.
- Analyze business and technical requirements and implement software enhancements.
- Develop and modify COBOL programs, batch processes, and utilities.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues.
- Create and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database interactions.
- Perform application performance tuning and code optimization.
- Participate in application migration and modernization initiatives.
- Work with QA teams during testing and defect resolution.
- Prepare technical documentation and maintain coding standards.
- Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and technical teams.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in COBOL development.
- Strong experience with Micro Focus COBOL, Visual COBOL, or Net Express COBOL.
- Experience developing COBOL applications on Windows Server.
- Strong SQL skills (SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2).
- Experience with batch processing and file handling.
- Knowledge of JCL (if migrating from mainframe environments).
- Experience with source control tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, or SVN.
- Familiarity with SDLC and Agile methodologies.

- Languages: COBOL, SQL
- Platforms: Windows Server
- Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, DB2
- Development Tools: Micro Focus COBOL, Visual COBOL, Net Express
- Version Control: Git, Azure DevOps, SVN
- Build Tools: Jenkins (preferred)
- Operating Systems: Windows
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience migrating COBOL applications from mainframe to Windows.
- Knowledge of C#, .NET, or Java integration.
- Experience with APIs, web services, or REST integration.
- Understanding of financial, insurance, government, or healthcare systems.
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments is a plus.
