Senior Cloud Infrastructure Architect

Location: Austin, Texas
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Employment Type: Contract – C2C
Rate: $75 per hour on C2C

Job Overview

TechAGI Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Infrastructure Architect to support cloud architecture, IT modernization, and data center transformation initiatives for HHSC – State of Texas.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing secure, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure across AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. This role requires hands-on expertise in cloud migration, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps, networking, security, and regulated enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cloud architecture, infrastructure modernization, and data center transformation initiatives.

  • Design cloud architecture blueprints, network topologies, technical specifications, and implementation standards.

  • Architect solutions across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.

  • Lead migrations from on-premises infrastructure to cloud and hybrid platforms.

  • Evaluate architectural options and recommend scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective solutions.

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, and Azure ARM templates.

  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation.

  • Design secure cloud environments with appropriate identity and access management, governance, auditing, and compliance controls.

  • Support infrastructure requiring HIPAA, enterprise security, and regulatory compliance.

  • Administer and optimize Kubernetes clusters, containers, microservices, serverless infrastructure, and APIs.

  • Implement monitoring, logging, auditing, alerting, and performance-management solutions.

  • Lead solution implementation, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

  • Establish cloud architecture standards, reusable patterns, and technical best practices.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and infrastructure teams.

  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, application teams, business stakeholders, security teams, and IT leadership.

  • Prepare architecture diagrams, technical documentation, operating procedures, standards, and training materials.

  • Manage multiple technical projects, priorities, deadlines, and cross-functional initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure architecture, engineering, or related IT roles.

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Strong understanding of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS cloud delivery models.

  • Experience designing cloud networking architecture, connectivity, routing, security, and high-availability solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud security, identity and access management, data governance, risk management, and compliance.

  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, containerization, microservices, and Kubernetes.

  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, and Azure ARM templates.

  • Experience automating cloud infrastructure using Bash, KornShell, PowerShell, cloud CLI tools, and Kubernetes Helm.

  • Working knowledge of YAML, JSON, HCL, Ruby, and related Infrastructure as Code technologies.

  • Experience with cloud monitoring and operations tools such as Dynatrace, Sysdig Secure, AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Google Cloud Platform Cloud Operations, or OCI Monitoring.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, technical writing, and architecture diagramming skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.

  • Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies, processes, and ceremonies.

  • Ability to lead technical teams and establish cloud architecture standards and best practices.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Austin, Texas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience architecting, engineering, or developing enterprise solutions in cloud and hybrid environments.

  • Experience supporting large-scale government, healthcare, or other regulated environments.

  • Experience with cloud database services, including SQL, Oracle, and NoSQL technologies.

  • Knowledge of enterprise data lakes, data pipelines, ETL/ELT, and big data frameworks.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based artificial intelligence and machine learning services.

  • Experience with enterprise analytics platforms and data integration solutions.

  • Relevant AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, or infrastructure automation certifications are advantageous.
