Macquarie University is seeking an Education Systems Analyst to join the Pro Vice Chancellor Education (PVCE) portfolio, where you will help evaluate, assess and align education technology platforms with the University's strategic objectives.

About the Role

The Education Systems Analyst partners with the PVCE, faculty and business teams to identify, clarify and map improved process and system relationships, translating business requirements into system design and practical solutions that improve services, efficiency and decision making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead activities to elicit, analyse and validate opportunities and problems across systems and workflows, using workshops, interviews, observation, testing and data review.
  • Work with stakeholders across faculties and teams to map the current and future state of key functions, and identify gaps, risks and dependencies that may affect business outcomes.
  • Translate business needs into clear, prioritised functional requirements, incorporating governance oversight and compliance alignment, including privacy, policy and cyber security factors.
  • Coordinate solution delivery through design clarification, option assessment, testing, release readiness and change/training activities.
  • Analyse system data, configurations and workflows to identify issues, trends and opportunities for optimisation or standardisation across education systems.
  • Provide subject matter input into system enhancements, integrations and upgrades, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and strategic priorities.
  • Produce documentation that defines problems, presents options and communicates benefits and success measures to inform business cases and investment prioritisation.
About You (Selection Criteria)
  • Experienced analyst who understands how systems, data and processes interact, and enjoys building alignment across diverse groups.
  • Strong analytical thinking, clear communication and a genuine curiosity for solving problems that make a real difference to how education is delivered.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Information Systems, Education Technology, Business Analysis) or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Extensive relevant experience as an analyst in a complex environment, preferably an educational setting, with an understanding of how systems, data and processes interact.
  • Knowledge of education systems, enterprise platforms or complex business systems, including process mapping, data interpretation, business intelligence and system optimisation.
  • Proficiency with common tools (e.g. Jira/Confluence, Miro, Visio, Excel/PowerBI) and the ability to translate data and system behaviour into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and validate data, identify trends or issues, and use insights to inform prioritisation and solution design.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to facilitate workshops, manage competing priorities and convey complex information to stakeholders with varying levels of technical capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to help shape outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.
