Backend Python Engineer – Healthcare Data Platform (Remote)

We''re looking for a Backend Python Engineer to build scalable, cloud-native backend services and data pipelines for a US healthcare data platform. You''ll work on distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and secure, HIPAA-compliant data processing, collaborating closely with data engineering and platform teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Python backend services and REST APIs
• Build distributed, cloud-native microservices
• Work with event-driven pipelines and healthcare data flows
• Optimize performance, reliability, and monitoring
• Collaborate with architects, data engineers, and QA
• Support CI/CD, testing, and production deployments
• Ensure secure, PHI/HIPAA-compliant data handling

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–5 years of backend Python development experience
• Strong Python programming (FastAPI, Django, or Flask)
• SQL and/or NoSQL databases
• REST APIs and microservices
• Git and CI/CD
• Cloud experience (AWS preferred)
• PHI/HIPAA-compliant data handling practices
• HL7 ADT message format knowledge
• Recent, hands-on experience in the healthcare data domain

Nice to Have

• Apache Kafka / event-driven architecture
• Databricks and/or Snowflake
• Docker, Kubernetes
• GraphQL
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation)
• Experience integrating backend systems with ML models or LLMs
• FHIR / healthcare interoperability
