Project Engineer (Mechanical / Fire Protection) Location:
Manchester & North West Rate:
Up to £340 per day (DOE) Start Date:
ASAP
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer to join a leading specialist contractor delivering complex mechanical and fire protection projects across the UK.
This role is ideally suited to candidates based in Manchester, Greater Manchester, or the wider North West region.
The Role Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of projects on site, ensuring labour, materials, programme requirements and quality standards are effectively managed.
You will act as a key point of contact between site teams, clients and contractors while helping drive projects through installation, testing and commissioning phases.
Key Responsibilities
Support the day-to-day delivery of mechanical installation projects.
Attend client and contractor coordination meetings.
Manage subcontractors and site resources.
Review and mark up pipework schematics and technical drawings.
Monitor project progress and identify potential issues.
Assist with design coordination and clash resolution.
Manage QA documentation and site reporting.
Coordinate deliveries and material requirements.
Ensure site compliance with all H&S requirements.
Support commissioning and handover activities.
Requirements
Experience as a Project Engineer, Site Engineer or Mechanical Supervisor.
Strong mechanical building services background.
Experience working alongside major contractors.
Knowledge of commercial plumbing, sprinklers or fire protection systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Experience coordinating labour and subcontractors.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications
SMSTS.
NVQ Level 6 and/or CSCS Black Card.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
MOJ and MOD project experience.
IOSH qualification.
First Aid certification.
Water mist system experience.
Security-cleared project experience.
