Job Description

Frontend Engineer

Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires an experienced Frontend Engineer to be based at their client's offices in Leeds.

This is a hybrid role: you can work remotely in the UK and attend the Leeds office 2 days per week.

This is a 12 month temporary contract to start ASAP

Day rate: Competitive Market rate

The work will be within the IDP Lab and will involve shaping Stories and Tasks within agreed features then performing Software and Infrastructure as code secure development, testing (largely automated) and implementation. In addition, Service support is number 1 priority in the company and any successful candidate must be prepared to support the system in terms of helping customers, resolving incidents and providing long term problem fixes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own, lead and drive an aspect or feature of the internal developer portal via the Jira Align framework
  • Contribute to the lab & platform roadmap to develop integrated solutions.
  • Contribute to the design and build of the Internal Developer Platform ecosystem building Front End applications within the React Framework in JavaScript or Typescript.
  • Be hands-on and contribute code on a regular basis - leading by example.
  • Be comfortable prototyping and developing reusable components, writing automated test scripts, performing code reviews and creating technical documentation.
  • Be proficient in leading technical conversations with collaborators of varying levels of technical background, including Senior Management and other Subject Matter Experts.
  • Collaborate across internal, external, and 3rd party teams, working closely with the other members of the team.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of shared code libraries and collaborate with other technology teams.
  • Provide leadership, education and mentoring to support junior colleagues and different teams on those topics, and drive upskilling.
  • High focus on live support and building supportability into the application in day to day work

Key Requirements

  • JavaScript/TypeScript, React JS, Node JS
  • Extensive experience in writing Front End applications within the React Framework in JavaScript or Typescript
  • Jest Unit Testing & automated Functional Testing (eg Playwright, Cypress)
  • Experience creating end-to-end automation testing as part of a release framework using common industry tools (eg Selenium, Cypress, Playwright)
  • Integrating RESTful APIs in Front End Applications
  • Experience building and deploying applications to Cloud (Azure & GCP)
  • Building and maintaining CICD pipelines
  • Applied understanding of security best practises including secrets management, building into a CICD workflow
  • Applied familiarity with industry tools, NodeJS, Git/GitHub, Jest/React testing Library.
  • Terraform/Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes. PostgreSQL. DevOps, Backstage (Desirable)
