FULL-TIME Role || Lead Platform Engineer

Location	South San Francisco, CA
Duration	Full Time Role

Qualifications

• 6+ years of Platform, Backend, or Infrastructure Engineering experience
• Startup experience during high-growth (Seed to Series C preferred)
• Strong AWS orchestration: ECS, Batch, Step Functions
• Strong Python backend development: FastAPI and/or Django
• Linux server administration
• Distributed task queues: Celery, SQS
• Experience designing and building distributed systems (queues, orchestration, state machines)
• Hands-on engineering (70%+ IC work)
• Led technical projects and mentored engineers
• Experience building LLM/Agentic AI systems (tooling, evaluation, permissions/safety, prompt & workflow design)

Preferred Qualifications

• Former founder or founding engineer
• Experience building cloud infrastructure and large-scale data pipelines
• Experience with workflow orchestration and scheduling systems
• Strong interest in AI, biotech, and scientific domains
• Up to date with modern AI tools and technologies
• Looking to grow from Senior/Staff Engineer into a Lead role

Not a Fit

• Primarily ML infrastructure or model training pipeline experience
• Engineers who are mostly hands-off or spend less than 70% of their time coding
