About the Role :
Erulearning, part of the Emeritus Group, is seeking a Compliance Manager to support its India Campus business. This role will partner closely with legal, university partners, and business teams to ensure regulatory and contractual compliance on India's evolving regulatory landscape for foreign university participation. The role reports to the company's Regional General Counsel, India, with a dotted line report to the Head of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC). This role is based in India.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct annual risk assessments for each FHEI's India-based university
- Lead compliance audits and implement corrective actions to mitigate regulatory and operational risks across the India Campus business
- Develop and operationalize policies, systems, and controls to support compliant scaling of India Campus operations
- Assist in implementing compliance efforts for the India Campus business in line with Indian regulations
- Ensure adherence to applicable Indian regulatory frameworks, including UGC (Setting up and Operation of Campuses of Foreign Higher Educational Institutions in India) Regulations, 2023
- Manage compliance in key risk areas such as marketing practices, sales operations, cross-border payments, FDI considerations, and global sanctions (including OFAC)
Qualifications :
- 5+ years of experience in internal audit, risk, and/ or compliance roles, preferably within higher education, edtech, or cross-border services businesses
- Direct experience with Indian higher education regulations and/or foreign university collaborations in India strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree required
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Self-driven, adaptable, and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced global environment
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance compliance requirements and commercial priorities
- High attention to detail and ability to independently identify and resolve issues
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
