Yolk Recruitment are supporting a leading engineering manufacturer with the recruitment of a Process Engineer to join their team in Chard. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Process Engineer with a background in manufacturing, process optimisation and continuous improvement to take ownership of production processes, improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support the delivery of high-quality products within a technically advanced engineering environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in improving manufacturing performance, reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and ensuring processes consistently meet customer and quality requirements.
As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for controlling and improving manufacturing processes across the foundry area, ensuring production capability, quality standards, and output targets are achieved.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct structured reviews of manufacturing process effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop, maintain, and improve local PFMEA documentation and process controls.
- Support the research, development, and introduction of new manufacturing processes.
- Lead process improvement projects focused on reducing scrap, rework, waste, and manufacturing costs.
- Act as a technical point of contact for process engineering issues across internal departments.
- Lead problem-solving activities using structured techniques such as 8D and root cause analysis.
- Work closely with engineering teams to reduce defects and improve product quality.
- Ensure customer technical requirements and manufacturing standards are achieved.
- Support plant equipment improvement activities, including major CAPEX projects.
- Promote lean manufacturing principles and best working practices across the site.
- Monitor and improve process capability through effective control measures.
- Collaborate with wider engineering teams to implement best practice and continuous improvement initiatives.
This is what you'll need:
- Proven experience working within a process control environment within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing improvement techniques including PFMEA, 8D, OEE, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
