Solutions Architect

Hybrid - 2 Days per week in the Glasgow office - you must live within a 60 min commute of Glasgow to be considered.

We are looking for a hands-on Solution Architect to lead the technical design of a highly secure, modern IT platform that protects critical UK government information. This role bridges the gap between high-level strategic architecture and low-level engineering.

If you prefer staying close to the tech, this is an architecture role where you can still get into the command line and actively troubleshoot complex distributed systems alongside delivery teams.

What you'll do:

• Lead Technical Design: Shape and assure secure, scalable, and sustainable solutions across a mix of Microsoft, Linux, physical, and containerised deployments.

• High-Level & Low-Level Design: Define and review architectural blueprints, patterns, and IaC deployments.

• Bridge the Gap: Work closely with engineering teams to guide datacentre configurations and solve deep technical bottlenecks.

• Govern & Mentor: Drive governance frameworks and mentor junior architects within an agile environment.

What we need:

• Hands-on Architecture Background: Deep experience designing enterprise infrastructure across physical, virtual, and containerised environments (Linux & Windows).

• Cloud & Automation: Proven track record with major cloud providers (AWS or Azure) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Security First: Strong understanding of Secure by Design principles, identity management (IAM), and ideally, Zero Trust frameworks.

• No-Nonsense Communicator: Ability to influence senior stakeholders and break down complex technical issues for non-technical audiences.

• You must be eligible for SC level Security Clearance - min 5 years in the UK.
