How to apply for Test Analyst

The Test Analyst role at Transport for NSW is about making sure new and updated applications are ready for production. The work covers designing and managing testing activities across the software development lifecycle, validating functional and security requirements, documenting defects and results, and improving the testing approach over time.

Strong applicants will make their testing judgement easy to follow. Show how you planned coverage, found and documented defects, worked with delivery colleagues and decided whether a solution was ready for release. Candidate requirements

The strongest application will be grounded in testing work that had a real delivery consequence. The panel needs to understand how you protected quality while meeting deadlines and working with others across a delivery lifecycle.

Defect management and communication: Show how you recorded a defect clearly, helped others understand its impact and followed it through to resolution or an agreed risk decision.

Priorities and delivery pace: Explain how you balanced competing testing tasks, kept stakeholders informed and delivered work to deadline without lowering standards.

Continuous improvement: Use an example where you improved a test process, introduced a useful technique or adapted your approach across agile and traditional delivery settings.

• Release quality example: explain the test approach, the issue or risk you found, how it was documented and the release outcome.
