Database Designer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IT Database Designer to join the team. Working within the Agile delivery model, the role collaborates closely with application and architecture teams to support the full mid range database delivery lifecycle-from design and build through to release and maintenance. The role focuses on delivering and supporting enterprise databases and platforms, supporting the Departments registry applications built on Microsoft SQL Server and AWS Aurora/PostgreSQL across AWS environments. The role builds team capability through coaching, training, feedback as well as modelling and encouraging others to adopt an agile approach. It advocates a culture of continuous improvement. Managing key stakeholder relationships, you'll collaborate to resolve issues and deliver quality outcomes.

Skills and Experience Required

• is an influential leader who builds positive stakeholder relationships, negotiates outcomes, and resolves complex issues within tight timeframes
• has experience managing critical operational systems and automation and deployment processes, including scripting
• demonstrates high-level problem-solving skills to assist in investigating build and deployment issues and the ability to propose workable solutions
• understands Agile and Scrum, and adheres to Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) method
• has excellent analytical and communication skills to assist in negotiating, resolving issues, and tailoring reports to a varied audience, including senior executives
• understands change management principles and supports others through the change
• has extensive experience in one or more of the following DBMS:
  • RDS/Aurora/PostgreSQL
  • MongoDb Atlas
  • SQL Server 2022 and later
• Experience and advanced understanding of
  • Environment and Platform Management
  • DevOps, Automation and CI/CD
  • Cloud, Network and Security Operations
• AWS
  • IAM and Security controls
  • CloudWatch monitoring
  • EC2 instances
  • Serverless computing
• has familiarity with some of the following applications or technologies:
  • Azure DevOps
  • Governance, approval, and change control
  • Enforcing branch policies within GIT repositories
  • Pipeline - govern Classical and YAML pipelines, pipeline permissions/scope
  • Microsoft Architecture

Location and Contract Term

Role can be based in Brisbane CBD, Melbourne CBD and Wollongong. 12 month contract with 1 12 month contract extension options pending budget and delegate approval.

Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a Baseline security clearance.
