Job Description

Our client is seeking a dedicated Software Engineer with a data bias to join the team building an inventory and booking platform on a 6 month contract initially with the opportunity to extend further. This is a full stack application engineering role but with a deliberate tilt toward the data side of the platform: the pipelines that feed BigQuery, the models that back our reporting, and the Looker reporting layer that serves as a window on our sources of truth.

Technical Profile
  • Kotlin or Java, a solid grasp of REST API design & Spring Boot.
  • Practical experience with LookML, particularly authoring and maintaining Explores.
  • Hands on experience writing and optimising analytical SQL in BigQuery, with an understanding of how partitioning, clustering, and query structure drive both performance and cost.
  • Strong understanding of Postgres.
  • Cloud native development experience, preferably GCP (or AWS, or Azure), and CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.
  • Working experience with React and TypeScript.
  • Commercial experience writing production Python for data work-pipelines, transformations, and automation.
Core Responsibilities
  • Deliver clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code, from requirements through to production deployment.
  • Develop and scale microservices and APIs using Kotlin and Spring Boot, adhering to established engineering patterns for reliability and structure.
  • Build and maintain the pipelines that move AIM's operational data into BigQuery, using Python where appropriate.
  • Model that data for analytical use-partitioning, clustering, and query cost as first class concerns.
  • Author and tune SQL against PostgreSQL through ORM layers, with sound schema design and an understanding of transactions and indexing.

Please only apply if you have both the software engineering and data experience for this role - this role will be looking to start in August 2026.
