Principal Engineer – Product Safety | Bristol Area, United Kingdom | Hybrid

The Role

  • Lead the development and management of Product Safety across complex engineering projects, embedding safety throughout the lifecycle.
  • Influence design, build, and delivery decisions within a Systems Engineering framework.
  • Lead hazard identification and risk assessment activities, utilizing techniques like FMEA, HAZOP, and FTA.
  • Support the development and delivery of robust Safety Cases and associated documentation.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to junior team members and engage with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Conduct peer reviews and assurance of safety documentation to ensure compliance and clarity.

What You'll Need

  • A STEM degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience with safety analysis techniques (e.g., FMEA, HAZOP, FTA).
  • Demonstrated experience in developing Safety Cases and supporting documentation.
  • Experience working within a Project Safety Management System.
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering standards in a safety context.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and translate it into clear, evidence-based safety arguments.
