About the role
The Transfer Pricing team plays a critical role in supporting bp's global businesses by ensuring transfer pricing policies are appropriately designed, implemented, governed and documented across a highly complex multinational operating environment. The team works closely with business, finance, tax and technology teams to support critical initiatives while maintaining compliance with transfer pricing requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
As a Transfer Pricing Manager, you will be responsible for supporting transfer pricing governance, documentation and compliance activities across bp's global operations. The role requires a strong combination of technical transfer pricing expertise, commercial understanding and partner management skills to ensure transfer pricing policies accurately reflect business operations and value creation.
You will work closely with business and finance teams to understand evolving business models and intercompany transactions, translating complex operational activities into robust and defensible transfer pricing positions. The role also provides support on strategic business projects, acquisitions, divestments, restructurings and tax authority enquiries.
A key aspect of the role will be helping drive tax transformation and continuous improvement initiatives through the application of technology, automation, advanced analytics and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency, governance and compliance delivery.
Key Accountabilities
- Support the design, implementation and governance of transfer pricing policies across bp's global businesses.
- Coordinate transfer pricing compliance activities, including Local Files, Master File requirements and related governance processes.
- Partner with business, finance and tax teams to analyse business operations, value chains and intercompany transactions.
- Translate complex business activities and functional analyses into robust transfer pricing positions.
- Assist with transfer pricing audit defence activities and responses to tax authority enquiries and disputes.
- Drive process simplification and tax transformation initiatives through technology, automation, analytics and AI solutions.
- Maintain strong relationships with participants across tax, finance, technology and business functions.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience qualified with a relevant professional qualification (ACA, CTA, CA, CPA or equivalent).
- Extensive transfer pricing technical expertise, including practical application of the OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines to complex multinational organisations.
- Significant experience handling transfer pricing compliance programmes, including Local Files, Master Files, governance requirements and associated risk management activities.
- Experience using technology-enabled tax processes and tools, including AI, automation, GenAI solutions, Copilot or advanced analytics capabilities.
- Strong understanding of transfer pricing documentation, benchmarking analyses, intercompany transactions and policy implementation.
- Proven ability to analyse value chains, functional profiles and business models to support defensible transfer pricing outcomes.
- Experience supporting transfer pricing audits, enquiries and controversy management with tax authorities.
- Experience operating within a large multinational environment.
- Strong partner management, communication and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Desirable Experience
- Energy sector experience.
- Experience within technology-enabled tax functions or tax transformation programmes.
- Demonstrated track record of driving process improvement, innovation and digital adoption.
