Database Developer

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Database Developer to support enterprise data platforms, application deployment processes, and production operations. This role combines deep expertise in database technologies, data integration, build and release management, CI/CD automation, and production support.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with SQL Server, Sybase, MongoDB, DataStage, Unix scripting, and enterprise deployment tools such as Jenkins, CloudBees, and UrbanCode Deploy (UCD). The candidate will serve as a critical liaison between development, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure reliable application delivery and data processing across multiple environments.

Key Responsibilities

Data Integration & Database Development

• Design, develop, and support enterprise data integration solutions using IBM DataStage and SQL-based technologies.
• Create, maintain, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database objects.
• Support data ingestion, transformation, validation, and reconciliation processes.
• Troubleshoot data-related issues and ensure data integrity across platforms.
• Perform database performance monitoring and tuning.

Database Platforms Support

• Support and maintain enterprise database environments including:
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Sybase ASE
  • MongoDB
  • Oracle Database
• Manage database connectivity, client configurations, and environment migrations.
• Assist with database upgrades, patching, and production support activities.
• Implement data governance, security, and compliance standards.

Build & Release Management

• Serve as Build Master for application deployment and release activities.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Coordinate application releases across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
• Automate software build, packaging, deployment, and rollback processes.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve deployment efficiency and release quality.

CI/CD & DevOps

• Configure and support:
  • Jenkins
  • CloudBees
  • UrbanCode Deploy (UCD)
  • Bitbucket
• Maintain deployment automation standards and release governance processes.
• Support source control administration and repository management.
• Manage role-based access controls across deployment and source code platforms.

Production Support & Operations

• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 application and data support.
• Monitor and manage batch processing and scheduling activities using Control-M.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents and performance issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
• Participate in release validation, post-deployment support, and production readiness activities.

Automation & Scripting

• Develop and maintain Unix shell and Perl scripts for operational automation.
• Streamline deployment processes through scripting and automation frameworks.
• Automate monitoring, validation, and routine operational tasks.
• Support system integration and environment management processes.

Development Environment Support

• Support software development and integration environments.
• Assist teams with tool configuration, deployment troubleshooting, and environment setup.
• Collaborate with application developers using Java-based development platforms and frameworks.

AI-Enhanced Engineering

• Utilize AI-based productivity tools including:
  • ChatGPT
  • Spark
  • Windsurf
• Improve development efficiency, documentation quality, troubleshooting, and automation initiatives through AI-assisted workflows.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise data integration, build/release engineering, or database development environments.
• Strong experience with SQL Server, Sybase, and enterprise ETL technologies.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and deployment automation.
• Experience supporting production systems in a mission-critical environment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

• Experience in DevOps and Agile delivery environments.
• Experience supporting large-scale financial services, healthcare, insurance, or enterprise platforms.
• Knowledge of infrastructure automation and environment management.
• Familiarity with application lifecycle management and change control processes.
