Job Description

Remote role you can be based anywhere in the world with occasional travel to site in South Africa | 12-18 Month Programme. You must be availbale to work to UK or South African time zones.

We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Management System (WMS)/Logistics Solution Architect to lead the design of a major greenfield logistics platform for a large logistics operator in South Africa.

This is not a packaged WMS implementation role. We are looking for someone who has designed and built complex warehouse or logistics platforms and can translate operational requirements into a scalable, enterprise-grade solution architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and high-level solution design of a new logistics management platform.
  • Design core warehouse and inventory management capabilities.
  • Define domains, services, APIs, workflows and data models.
  • Architect integrations with ERP, warehouse scanning, weighbridge, vehicle tracking and other operational systems.
  • Ensure strong inventory integrity, auditability and operational traceability.
  • Identify risks, gaps and improvement opportunities within business requirements.
  • Support engineering teams through design, development, testing and deployment.
  • Produce clear architecture documentation and mentor customer development teams.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience architecting or designing WMS or large-scale logistics platforms.
  • Strong understanding of inventory, stock movement and warehouse operations.
  • Experience with receiving, put-away, picking, loading, dispatch and fulfilment processes.
  • API-first, modular and enterprise application architecture.
  • Integration of operational platforms with ERP and financial systems.
  • Experience designing robust transaction, audit and reconciliation frameworks.
  • Ability to work directly with operational stakeholders and convert business processes into software solutions.

Desirable Experience

  • Port, terminal or container logistics.
  • Cold-chain or agricultural logistics.
  • Bulk, breakbulk or project cargo operations.
  • Transport management and truck scheduling.
  • Yard, gate and weighbridge management.
  • Sage X3 or similar ERP integration's.
  • High-volume, multi-site logistics environments.

Ideal Candidate

You will be a senior architect with extensive experience in warehousing, logistics or supply chain technology, capable of operating at both business-process and technical-architecture level. Experience building bespoke WMS, terminal operating systems (TOS), 3PL platforms or enterprise logistics solutions will be highly advantageous.

This is an opportunity to shape the architecture of a strategic logistics platform from the ground up and remain involved throughout the programme life cycle.
