Job Description

Mechanical / Fuel Systems Installation Design Engineer

Location: Filton (100% onsite)Contract until: 31 December 2026 (potential extension)Hours: 35 hours per week (4.5-day week, between 07:00-19:00)Pay Rate: £34.39 per hour (PAYE) | £46.00 per hour (Umbrella)

About the Opportunity

Guidant Global is working in partnership with Airbus to recruit a Mechanical / Fuel Systems Installation Design Engineer to join a high-performing Wing Engineering Design team.

You'll become part of a multi-national, collaborative team spanning Filton, Broughton and Wichita, contributing to the design and delivery of some of the world's most advanced aircraft.

This is an exciting opportunity to work across a broad portfolio of Airbus aircraft, including Single Aisle, A380, A400M, A330 and A350 programmes, while also supporting innovative R&T projects such as ZeroE and WoT.

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality engineering solutions, including:

  • Supporting the end-to-end design process, from initial concept through to manufacturing and assembly
  • Designing and validating installation components and assemblies, ensuring optimisation of weight, cost and performance
  • Producing full Definition Dossiers for Manufacturing and Assembly
  • Delivering technical studies, trade-offs and investigations aligned to Airbus design standards
  • Supporting product development programmes, including modification introduction and in-service fleet requirements
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders, manufacturing teams and suppliers to ensure successful delivery

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from candidates with strong practical design experience and a collaborative approach.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Strong experience using CATIA V5
  • Familiarity with design configuration tools (e.g. PASS, DPDS, VPM, ICC/ACP)
  • Proven 3D CAD design capability
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong team ethos
  • Ability to work in an agile environment and engage with a range of stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Experience within aerospace, or transferable sectors such as hydraulics systems or landing gear
  • Fuel systems experience is advantageous but not essential
