Job Overview
We are looking for a Senior Playwright QA Engineer to join a sprint team and take ownership of product quality, release readiness, staging releases, and test automation.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Playwright, excellent QA/product judgment, and the ability to identify gaps between technically passing implementations and the intended user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate completed work against acceptance criteria, design intent, and expected behavior.
- Identify adjacent regression risks and ensure adequate test coverage.
- Own the staging release process, including determining release readiness and executing promotions.
- Run, triage, debug, and maintain Playwright, unit, and integration test suites.
- Diagnose and repair flaky, outdated, duplicate, or unreliable automated tests.
- Identify test coverage gaps and maintain accurate test-plan status.
- Document defects in Linear with clear reproduction steps, severity, environment details, expected behavior, and actual results.
- Provide Product stakeholders with concise release candidate summaries.
- Actively participate in standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Partner closely with developers and Product stakeholders to ensure high-quality releases.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and end-to-end test automation.
- Ability to run, debug, repair, and maintain Playwright test suites.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving flaky tests.
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, regression testing, and release validation.
- Working knowledge of:
- Next.js
- React
- TypeScript
- Browser Developer Tools
- Application logs
- Experience using AI-assisted QA/development tools, such as Claude, Claude Code, or equivalent.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent defect documentation and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong product judgment with the ability to evaluate functionality beyond simply whether tests pass.
Preferred Skills
- Experience owning a staging promotion/release process.
- Experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum sprint teams.
- Experience with unit and integration testing.
