Our Internships

We are looking for passionate and motivated students who are interested in pursuing a career in audio journalism and production to join our team! We expect our interns to be in the office a minimum of three days a week. 

This program is a paid, ten week summer internship and offers the opportunity to connect and collaborate across the FT — in the US and globally. You’ll develop ideas that help drive our growth, present your work to US leadership, and gain valuable insights from across the business. Plus, you’ll be paired with a dedicated Buddy to provide mentorship and support throughout your experience.

This internship pays $22 per hour for 40 hours per week and runs from June 7, 2027 - Aug 13, 2027. Before applying, please ensure you will be available on these dates.

Role overview

The internship will offer hands-on experience pitching, reporting and producing audio stories for the FT’s flagship daily podcast, the FT News Briefing.We are looking for candidates with a proven interest in multimedia journalism and some experience in podcast production. Knowledge of business, economics and financial markets is an advantage, and having the ideas and initiative to propose stories and execute them is a must. 

Key responsibilities

• Researching and pitching audio story ideas which draw from the full range of FT coverage: business, finance and culture
• Gathering tape and archive audio to bring stories to life 
• Coordinating and recording interview with FT journalists and other guests
• Producing and editing elements of the FT News Briefing, with guidance from its team leader

Required skills/experience

• Journalism degree preferred
• Audio or podcast experience preferred (Internship or other courses)
• Good writing and editing skills
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Interest in finance and business news
• Must have experience working with Descript or similar editing software
