Senior Backend Engineer - Hybrid

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for a hybrid position with a Leading Consumer Electronics Retailer located in Saint Paul, MN. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity.

Compensation: $70.86 - $73.81 per hour, W2, based on qualifications

Position Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who is a strong hands-on coder and can independently design, develop, and deliver scalable backend services for our client's Marketplace Shopping platform. The ideal candidate has deep experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and distributed systems, with a strong understanding of system design and production-scale applications. This role requires someone who can take ownership of complex technical problems, make sound architectural decisions, and drive solutions from design through implementation and production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work on highly scalable, distributed backend systems and drive technical design and architecture for critical Marketplace capabilities
• Independently design, develop, and deliver scalable backend services
• Take ownership of complex technical problems and make sound architectural decisions
• Participate in design discussions and drive solutions from design through implementation and production
• Work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous requirements

Primary Requirements:

• 10-15+ years of experience with Java
• 10+ years of experience with Spring Boot / Microservices
• 10+ years of experience with System Design / Distributed Systems
• 3+ years of experience with Kafka / Event-driven architecture
• Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL / Relational Databases

Desired Skills:

• Marketplace / e-commerce Retail experience
• Spring Cache, Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery
• Performance optimization
• Experience owning large-scale production systems
• Experience working with highly scalable distributed systems
