Software Quality Engineer (Automation)

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Software Quality Engineer (Automation) for a contract assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in New York, NY .

Responsibilities :
Provision of comprehensive automated testing solutions within the DDS initiative. Design, development, and execution of functional tests for both (Application Programming Interface) API and (User Interface) UI components. Maximization of automation coverage to enhance reliability and performance. Support for continuous integration and deployment processes to maintain product quality.

The API testing component specifically entails: Creation and execution of automated API functional tests using Java Rest Assured. Targeting 80% automation coverage across DDS suite APIs. At the appropriate time, the firm will determine what should be included in the 80%. Identification and prioritization of key business workflows for test coverage. Integration of developed test cases with existing test infrastructure. Ongoing maintenance and enhancement to ensure continued relevance and accuracy.

The UI testing component includes Development and execution of UI functional tests utilizing Selenium or Playwright. Automation of 50% of critical UI test cases, focusing on user interactions and workflows. At the appropriate time, the firm will determine what should be included in the 50%. Design and setup of test scripts and environments for optimal coverage. Integration of automated tests with reporting and monitoring tools. Validation of UI functionality, usability, and performance through regular test runs and iterative improvements based on feedback.

• Coding and troubleshooting Java code daily.
• Ensures test plans align properly with business requirements by participating in software design and review sessions.
• Develops configurable, maintainable, reusable, and dependable test automation components.
• Executes test plans, records, and reports results; assists with analyzing test results and provides root-cause analysis for problems encountered during testing.
• Prepares and acquires test data and conducts peer reviews of test work products.
• Participate in special projects, as requested.
• Assists with setup and maintenance of test environments; development of test case automation criteria; and setup and checkout of test environments.
• Supports manual testers with automation needs and determines which manual test cases need to be converted to automation scripts.
• Identifies technical and operational problems on installed systems, products, and/or services.
• Prepares for and takes part in testing activities for production deployments and remediation.
• May conduct manual testing as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested

Required Skills :

• Develop and execute automated API functional tests for the DDS application using Java Rest Assured.
• Create and implement automated UI functional tests utilizing Java Selenium or Playwright.
• Design and perform manual functional tests with tools such as HP ALM or Xray.
• Conduct Java development using IntelliJ IDE.
• Demonstrate familiarity with Maven within the IntelliJ environment.

Preferred Skills :

• Experience in the firm's wire applications such Securities is a plus
