Job Description

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud System Engineer to join a high performing team supporting critical cloud and infrastructure initiatives within a highly secure national security environment. This hands on role focuses on cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, security, and platform optimisation. You will work closely with architects, security specialists, developers and business stakeholders to design and implement secure cloud solutions that support complex operational and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and design cloud solutions that align with business and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable cloud services.
  • Optimise cloud environments for performance, resilience, cost efficiency and security.
  • Work with product owners, developers and security teams to implement and validate security controls.
  • Ensure solutions meet PSPF, ISM, Essential Eight and organisational security requirements.
  • Support the implementation and management of CNAPP and SASE technologies across cloud environments.
  • Design and deliver proof of concept environments to evaluate emerging technologies and security solutions.
  • Replicate production environments to assess new tooling and implementation approaches.
  • Work closely with cloud vendors to develop and validate solution architectures.
  • Contribute to infrastructure lifecycle activities including deployment, support, maintenance, upgrades and retirement.
  • Support ongoing platform improvement, innovation and cloud transformation initiatives.
What You'll Need
  • Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise cloud environments.
  • Experience implementing and managing cloud security controls and security frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of IaaS and Microsoft Azure PaaS offerings.
  • Experience with cloud backup, recovery and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking, resiliency and operational best practices.
  • Experience working within highly regulated or security sensitive environments.
  • Ability to translate business and technical requirements into scalable infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Experience contributing to large scale infrastructure deployments and cloud transformation programmes.
Security Requirements
  • Current TSPV Security Clearance is mandatory.
  • Successful candidates must complete the Australian Signals Directorate's Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement.
  • Employment must be through a vendor holding current Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership.
