Location: Glasgow area (fully onsite)

Contract length: 3 months initially

Rate: Up to 40 per hour, Inside IR35

Start Date: ASAP

The Role

Our client, based in the Glasgow area, is running a major site consolidation and integration project and needs an IT Asset Specialist to lead the physical inventory, recording and sorting of a significant volume of legacy IT hardware.

This is a hands-on, on-site role critical to ensuring a clean transition of assets during site decommissioning. You'll carry out a full manual audit of hardware across the facility, log everything accurately into a central inventory system, and categorise each item based on its future use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out a comprehensive physical audit of all IT hardware on site, including workstations, peripherals, and networking equipment
  • Create and maintain accurate digital records in a central inventory database, tracking every item by serial number and specification
  • Categorise equipment for its next stage:
    • Retain - identify assets to be moved to other sites
    • Repurpose - identify functional legacy hardware for alternative internal use
    • Recycle/Dispose - coordinate with designated recyclers for ethical disposal of non-essential equipment
  • Work closely with the onsite enablement team and project engineers to support decommissioning tasks, ensuring all assets are accounted for prior to site closure
  • Organise the physical movement of assets and prepare hardware for secure transport or disposal collection
  • Provide clear, regular progress updates to IT leadership and project managers

Skills/ Experience required:

  • Exceptional organisational skills, with a proven ability to manage high-volume inventory projects
  • Proficient with spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets) and databases, maintaining detailed, error-free records
  • High accuracy in recording technical specifications and serial numbers
  • Physically capable of handling, lifting, and sorting computer hardware and peripherals daily in a warehouse or office environment
  • A proactive self-starter with a commitment to a structured, organised workspace
  • Confident communicator, able to give clear updates on inventory progress

Additional Information

This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Glasgow area. The successful candidate will need to be able to commute to site daily for the duration of the contract.
