CA Gen Migration Architect / Lead Engineer
Location: 100% Remote Open to Candidates Nationwide
Employment Type: Contract
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CA Gen Migration Architect / Lead Engineer to support an immediate modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with CA Gen (Broadcom Gen / COOL), a solid COBOL background, and a proven track record of migrating legacy CA Gen applications to modern technologies.
This is a 100% remote opportunity, and candidates can be located anywhere in the U.S. Candidates who can comfortably work East Coast business hours are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the migration of CA Gen / Broadcom Gen / COOL applications to modern technology platforms.
- Analyze existing CA Gen applications, architecture, code, dependencies, and business functionality.
- Develop and execute migration strategies, roadmaps, and technical approaches.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership throughout the modernization and migration lifecycle.
- Work extensively with COBOL-based legacy systems and understand existing application architecture.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and challenges associated with legacy application migration.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, business stakeholders, and project teams to ensure successful migration outcomes.
- Provide technical guidance, design recommendations, and best practices for modernization initiatives.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support application conversion, integration, and testing activities.
- Document current-state and future-state architectures, migration plans, and technical processes.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with CA Gen / Broadcom Gen / COOL.
- Strong hands-on COBOL development and/or architecture experience.
- Proven experience successfully migrating CA Gen applications to modern technologies.
- Strong understanding of legacy application architecture and modernization strategies.
- Experience working on large-scale enterprise applications and complex migration initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading CA Gen modernization or transformation programs.
- Experience with application re-engineering, API enablement, cloud migration, or other modernization approaches.
- Experience working with enterprise mainframe/legacy environments.
- Strong technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to work East Coast hours.
