Job Description
IT Support Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused IT Support Specialist to join our team in supporting the Department of Veteran Affairs with a large PC deployment program. As an IT Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional support services to our clients, ensuring the smooth operation of their IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, image, and set up equipment (PCs, laptops, docking stations, monitors, printers, scanners, and network connections) across the VA medical center campus and offsite training centers
- Unbox, set up, install, configure, remove equipment, and re-pack hardware for shipment
- Set up equipment at various training sites, ensuring timely and efficient deployment
- Provide excellent customer service, working closely with clients to understand their IT needs and deliver tailored support
- Conduct routine system administration tasks, including troubleshooting and logging data in system admin logs
- Maintain high availability systems, troubleshoot a wide variety of systems and networks, and debug protocols and processes
- Collaborate with the team to resolve IT issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1-year experience in imaging and installing computer equipment
- Ability to unpack, re-pack, move, and install pallets of IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Personal transportation available during work hours
- Ability to traverse the site campus, transporting equipment to various office buildings and frequently stooping, crouching, and reaching to setup/remove computers/pull cords under desks and in server closets
- Experience with hardware and software support, troubleshooting, system imaging, hardware break-fix support, refresh, upgrade, and deployment projects
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work independently
- HS diploma or GED, with 8 years of experience working in a professional environment (or equivalent degree and experience)
Nice to Have:
- Experience with the ServiceNow ticketing system
- Experience with the VA
