Job Description

IT Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused IT Support Specialist to join our team in supporting the Department of Veteran Affairs with a large PC deployment program. As an IT Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional support services to our clients, ensuring the smooth operation of their IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, image, and set up equipment (PCs, laptops, docking stations, monitors, printers, scanners, and network connections) across the VA medical center campus and offsite training centers
  • Unbox, set up, install, configure, remove equipment, and re-pack hardware for shipment
  • Set up equipment at various training sites, ensuring timely and efficient deployment
  • Provide excellent customer service, working closely with clients to understand their IT needs and deliver tailored support
  • Conduct routine system administration tasks, including troubleshooting and logging data in system admin logs
  • Maintain high availability systems, troubleshoot a wide variety of systems and networks, and debug protocols and processes
  • Collaborate with the team to resolve IT issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in imaging and installing computer equipment
  • Ability to unpack, re-pack, move, and install pallets of IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Personal transportation available during work hours
  • Ability to traverse the site campus, transporting equipment to various office buildings and frequently stooping, crouching, and reaching to setup/remove computers/pull cords under desks and in server closets
  • Experience with hardware and software support, troubleshooting, system imaging, hardware break-fix support, refresh, upgrade, and deployment projects
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work independently
  • HS diploma or GED, with 8 years of experience working in a professional environment (or equivalent degree and experience)

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with the ServiceNow ticketing system
  • Experience with the VA
