Job Description

HR Advisor

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR professional to join a leading higher education environment as an HR Advisor on a fixed-term basis until June 2029.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and managers, providing expert HR advice and support across a broad range of people-related matters, including employee relations, organisational change, consultation and workforce initiatives.

The Opportunity

You will act as a trusted HR advisor, supporting managers and senior stakeholders through complex organisational change programmes and employee relations matters. You will provide advice on employment legislation, HR best practice and institutional policies, while developing business cases and supporting consultation and selection processes.

  • Fixed-term until June 2029 with a potential to be extended, go permanent or be considered for other opportunities within the organisation
  • Hybrid minimum 2 days per week in the office
  • Location: Cambridge
  • Full-time
  • Salary: £33,951-£39,906 per annum

Requirements

  • Proven experience providing credible HR advice to managers and senior stakeholders
  • Strong experience across employee relations, organisational change and HR best practice
  • Experience within the NHS or education sector
  • Experience supporting or leading organisational change and consultation processes
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment legislation and employee relations practices
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and challenging deadlines
  • Experience working collaboratively with trade unions and other key stakeholders
  • Confidence advising and influencing senior stakeholders on sensitive or challenging HR matters
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex HR matters clearly
  • Proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality, professional standards and delivering a high-quality HR service

Desirable

  • Experience coaching, mentoring or supporting the development of HR colleagues
  • Experience of improving HR processes, systems and ways of working
  • Experience working within a complex higher education environment or NHS
