Overview
We are supporting a rapidly growing MedTech start-up in the recruitment of a Support Engineer to join their expanding team. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role where you will provide technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for advanced electro-mechanical equipment deployed in hospital environments across the UK.
This position requires a strong blend of mechanical, electrical, and software understanding, combined with excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with senior clinical and technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site and remote technical support for electro-mechanical medical equipment
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve faults spanning mechanical, electrical, and software systems
- Install, commission, and configure equipment at customer sites
- Act as a trusted technical liaison with hospital staff, clinicians, and senior stakeholders
- Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and system upgrades
- Analyse system performance and identify root causes of issues
- Escalate complex issues internally and collaborate with engineering and product teams
- Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation
- Deliver basic user training and technical guidance to end users
- Ensure all work complies with relevant healthcare regulations and safety standards
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience supporting electro-mechanical equipment or systems
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electronics, and software-driven devices
- Experience diagnosing faults across integrated hardware/software systems
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation
- Previous experience in a field service or customer-facing engineering role
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior customers
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively
Desirable Skills
- Experience within MedTech, healthcare, or regulated industries
- Familiarity with embedded systems or software diagnostics
- Knowledge of networking or connected devices
- Understanding of relevant compliance standards (e.g., ISO, medical device regulations)
