At Park Signalling we utilise our specialist engineering skills and knowledge to deliver products and services including consultancy and projects. We deliver design and development, application engineering, prototype manufacture, repair and consultancy at any stage in the life-cycle of a system or product. We design, manufacture and supply a range of products for the needs of the world-wide railway signalling, telecommunications and industrial control system industry. As a signalling consultancy, we are unique in the product knowledge that we hold. This know-how is current, relevant and easily transferable to all types of fail-safe control systems and products.
We are now recruiting for a Hardware Team Leader to lead the hardware team by ensuring hardware technical compliance, and serving as the primary interface coordinator for hardware engineering projects. They ensure that work output is delivered across multiple projects and product lines to meet customer requirements and support the growth of the business. You will use use operational experience to ensure projects are delivered on time, to schedule, cost, quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities of the role include:
- Delivering hardware-specific deliverables across multiple projects and product ranges, ensuring all engineering projects meet stringent safety, quality, and agreed project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations for national and international markets.
- Leading, developing, and motivating the hardware engineering team to ensure high performance and delivery of innovative solutions.
- Oversight of technical compliance, industry standards, safety practices, and regulatory requirements for all hardware-specific deliverables.
- Ensure the Hardware team delivers to the Engineering Project Manager designs and technical solutions which are competitive, verified, validated, and satisfy all internal or external customer requirements.
- Provide and maintain KPI and reporting outputs as required.
- Responsible for project/workstream Hardware technical, quality and safety compliance to agreed requirements and standards and overseeing project deliverables.
- Ensure all Quality Procedures are implemented and followed to ensure that all activities within the Engineering Function are fully compliant with the quality management system.
- Work with the Head of Product to review, maintain and develop engineering tools, software and processes that meet current and future products and business requirements.
- Manage resource planning and the effective utilisation of your engineering team to meet customer and business requirements.
- Identify Engineering skills and capability gaps within the team and implement appropriate strategies to enhance and develop these (focusing both on present and future demands).
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline or STEM subject and have previous experience in managing engineering teams to deliver to agreed time, cost and quality requirements. A qualification in Project Management is also desirable. You will ideally be a Chartered Engineer or currently working towards Chartership.
You will also be able to demonstrate to the following skills and experience:
- Experience in a product development role at a senior level
- Background in product design, development, innovation and design for manufacture
- Commercial and business acumen
- Excellent management and communication skills
- Ability to work at various levels within the organisation
- Excellent project management and presentation skills
- Excellent proven leadership skills
- Experience gained in the Railway industry or a comparable safety-critical industry is desirable.
- Understanding and knowledge of Rail products and approvals - desirable.
