Description

SAIC is seeking a Technician to provide critical technical support for the development, testing, Maintenance, and integration of defense-related systems. This role involves working within high-security environments to ensure that all equipment and prototypes meet stringent military specifications and operational readiness standards. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, comfortable with technical documentation, and able to maintain a high level of integrity regarding sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform assembly, calibration, and troubleshooting of electronic, mechanical, or network systems in accordance with technical manuals and MIL-spec standards.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of prototypes or field equipment to identify performance gaps or hardware failures.
  • Document all technical activities, including maintenance logs, test results, and configuration changes, ensuring 100% accuracy for audit purposes.
  • Support field operations or laboratory environments by managing equipment inventory and ensuring all tools are calibrated and mission-ready.
  • Collaborate with engineers to implement design changes and provide feedback on the manufacturability or serviceability of defense components.
  • Strictly adhere to all DoD security protocols, including the handling of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or classified materials.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Associates and three (3) years of related experience; additional two (2) years of experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Proven experience in a technical role, ideally within the defense, aerospace, or telecommunications industries.
  • Familiarity with soldering standards (e.g., IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001) and the use of diagnostic equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blue prints, schematics, and technical data packages (TDPs).
  • Strong physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various environmental conditions if field testing is required.

Security Requirements
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is a prerequisite). SAIC will help to obtain.
  • Must demonstrate a clean background and adherence to ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations) guidelines.

Preferred Skills
  • Prior military experience in a technical MOS (e.g., Avionics, Communications, Weapons Systems) is a significant plus.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or ISO 9001/AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Experience with CAD software or automated test equipment (ATE) programming.
