Job Description

A globally leading consumer device company headquartered in Cupertino, CA is seeking a Microphone Module Engineer to join their Microphone Engineering team. This team contributes to microphone hardware design, validation, and troubleshooting to minimize distracting audible noises and optimize their sound quality. They are a diverse team of acoustics, mechanics, electronics, physics, and MEMS experts, accomplished listeners, and creative problem solvers. They work daily with multi-functional teams on innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development of MEMS microphone modules, with a focus on the package design and module assembly. This will include future looking development on novel packaging concepts and support for existing designs throughout engineering product development phases.
  • Work with a cross functional team of MEMS and electronics experts, system mechanical design engineers, and technical operations team members, as well as external partners. You will encounter novel problems, and where necessary, develop new tests and characterization strategies to advance our understanding of the problems and validate solutions.
  • Communicate your work with a diverse cross-functional team working on acoustic modules via regular presentations on status, risk, and mitigation strategies. Your creativity and ability to think dynamically and laterally to convention to quickly solve such technical challenges will be key.  
  • Be available for some international travel (10%).


Key Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience and proven track record in sensor hardware development or characterization
  • Experience in MEMS sensor assembly and manufacturing. Direct experience with MEMS microphone preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanics, materials science, or acoustics and an interest in applying that knowledge to microphone packaging design and module assembly
  • Familiarity with assembly techniques (solders, adhesives, etc.) and material interactions (chemical, thermal, mechanical susceptibilities)
  • Curiosity in reliability testing and failure analysis, including IPx
  • Exposure to semiconductor and MEMS backend processing is a bonus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively with multi-disciplinary team members.


Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months with extension
Work Location: Cupertino, CA (hybrid)
Pay range: $81.00 - $96.00 ph (DOE)
