Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced VSE Systems Programmer to support and maintain a highly customized IBM Mainframe (VSE) environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for system administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, software maintenance, and ensuring the stability and availability of IBM VSE systems. This role will also support the client''s migration from VSE to z/OS, working closely with infrastructure and application teams to ensure a smooth transition.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with IBM z/VSE Systems Programming
• Hands-on experience with system installation, maintenance, upgrades, and IPLs
• Experience with JCL (Job Control Language) and batch processing
• Performance monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning
• Storage and DASD management
• Experience troubleshooting operating system and infrastructure issues
• Knowledge of VSE/POWER and CICS administration
• Experience with RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret security administration
• Familiarity with TCP/IP, VTAM, and IBM mainframe networking
• Experience with monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON, MainView, or CA SYSVIEW
• Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting IBM z/OS environments
• Experience with VSE to z/OS migration projects
• Knowledge of SMP/E, DFSMS, FDR, and tape management
• Experience with REXX and Assembler programming
• Working knowledge of COBOL
• Experience with IBM System Automation, OPS/MVS, or Tivoli products
• Disaster recovery planning and implementation
• Experience with IBM MQ, DB2 for z/OS, or z/VM
• Familiarity with Endevor, Changeman, or other mainframe change management tools
• Experience with Broadcom (CA) and BMC mainframe utilities

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and support IBM z/VSE production environments.
• Perform system installations, upgrades, maintenance, and software implementations.
• Monitor system health, performance, and availability.
• Troubleshoot operating system, infrastructure, and batch processing issues.
• Manage storage, DASD, and system resources.
• Support application teams and production operations.
• Assist with VSE to z/OS migration, including planning, testing, workload migration, and cutover activities.
• Ensure system reliability, security, backup, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and project teams to resolve technical issues.
