The Role • Develop functional designs for Control and Instrumentation (C&I) solutions for electrical systems, derived from Piping & Instrumentation diagrams. • Specify instrumentation for measuring pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analysis, ensuring suitability for specific process conditions. • Produce C&I designs that meet diverse requirements, including functional, safety, and various industry (British, naval, nuclear, defence) standards. • Produce various design documents such as I/O schedules, instrument schedules, cable schedules, functional design specifications, and instrument specifications. • Undertake and lead technical design reviews for C&I systems, articulating technical arguments clearly. • Manage system design maturity to meet programme demands and liaise with internal and external customers. What You'll Need • BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent, with working towards professional registration. • Demonstrable experience across the engineering lifecycle, including system calculations, modelling, and analysis. • Experience in high, medium, and low voltage systems and an understanding of control system architecture and communication protocols (e.g., RS-485, PROFIBUS). • Experience in specifying equipment for hazardous areas and producing supporting verification evidence. • Multi-disciplinary understanding of engineering (Mechanical, Process, Instrument, Electrical, Control, Safety). • Technical report writing skills and experience in defence standards is an advantage.
