Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Product Owner for a 6 month contract based in London with remote working available (Hybrid).

Purpose of the role:

We're looking for a Product Owner to join an agile Product Team with a focus on developing an Interest Engine.

What you'll do:

  • Work closely with a Product Manager and other core banking teams in a cross collaborative manner to deliver a highly scalable interest engine that supports our propositions.
  • Break down complex financial logic such as tiered interest structures, daily accruals and compounding interest into granular user stories and robust acceptance criteria.
  • Manage and prioritise the product backlog, balancing client requests for complex interest products with critical, non-functional requirements like financial precision and performance at scale.
  • Bridge business and engineering, act as the translator between clients and stakeholders and your Engineering Team.
  • Be an evangelist for the Interest Engine, confidently explaining the why and how of
    your products architecture and roadmap to stakeholders across the business.

The skills you'll need:

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role within core banking or complex financial back end systems.
  • Previous experience of interest accrual and application in a core banking platform or backend financial system.
  • A strong technical background with ability to understand systems architecture and ability to collaborate effectively with backend engineers.
  • Deep functional understanding of interest mechanics including different calculation and application methods.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience with a definition of minimum marketable features and minimum viable
    products.
