Job Description

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary individual contributor for transmission and distribution design, performing structural and line analysis using PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and PLS-Caisson, and acting as the go-to expert for modeling and engineering calculations.
  • Execute detailed engineering design work with a strong focus on technical accuracy, ensuring compliance with QA/QC requirements, safety standards, and applicable codes without primary responsibility for project management functions.
  • Lead the design and review of pole and foundation systems, including new installations and assessments of existing infrastructure, with full ownership of calculations, models, and technical deliverables.
  • Provide direct engineering support during construction by resolving field-driven design issues, conducting site visits or inspections as needed, and supporting emergency restoration efforts (wildfires, storms, and other events).
  • Maintain and refine engineering standards, design criteria, and specifications, working closely with internal partners while remaining focused on technical execution.
  • Act as a technical leader within the engineering practice by mentoring junior engineers, providing guidance on modeling and design approaches, and supporting development of technical capabilities across the team.


Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's (or Master's) degree in civil/structural engineering
  • California Civil PE License required
  • Seven or more years of technical experience in transmission and/or distribution line engineering design.
  • Engineering experience with Electric Utility Distribution and Transmission Systems using California GO95, NESC and ASCE codes and guidelines.
  • PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, AutoCAD
