The roleAs a Software Engineer, you'll be a part of our dynamic engineering team powering the aXcelerate platform. Your focus will be on building secure, high-quality software focusing on software development while collaborating in an agile environment alongside Mid-Level/Senior Engineers and the management team, to further develop your skills. This is an opportunity to grow into a role that shapes the systems and technology that underpin our product.
Key responsibilities :- Build and maintain UI features across aXcelerate's core product using React and TypeScript
- Consume and integrate REST APIs to display student, course, and compliance data, with attention to correctly typing API responses in TypeScript
- Write unit and integration tests for new components as part of the standard development workflow
- Participate in code reviews, giving and receiving feedback to help maintain code quality and consistency
- Debug and resolve reported issues, working with QA and support to reproduce, diagnose, and fix bugs
- Contribute to shared UI/component patterns, helping keep the front end consistent across aXcelerate's product modules
- Collaborate in an Agile team environment - stand ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and picking up work from a shared backlog
- Keep learning and growing - pairing with senior engineers, picking up new tools and patterns as the codebase evolves, and bringing a curious, improvement minded approach to the work
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 1-2 years of professional software development experience
- Frontend experience, ideally with React and TypeScript
- Hands on experience with React - hooks, component composition, state/props management
- Working knowledge of TypeScript - interfaces, types, generics
- Git experience - branching, pull requests, resolving merge conflicts
- Understanding of basic data structures and algorithms
- A collaborative and learning mindset, seeking to improve and stay current with new technologies
- Basic understanding of REST APIs and how to consume them
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum
- Personal or academic projects demonstrating React/TypeScript skills
