Workshop Engineer

Location: Warrington Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Workshop Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Warrington. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with an electrical, mechanical, or materials handling equipment (MHE) background. The successful candidate will play a key role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining lithium-ion battery systems, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose incoming planned and reactive repair work accurately and efficiently.
  • Carry out fault diagnosis using CANBus systems and other diagnostic tools.
  • Ensure all required parts are identified, ordered, and fitted correctly.
  • Complete repairs in accordance with company procedures, guidelines, and health & safety standards.
  • Produce accurate inspection reports, defect reports, timesheets, and service documentation.
  • Maintain company records and update job information using IT systems.
  • Ensure workshop housekeeping and health & safety standards are maintained at all times.
  • Support colleagues within the workshop and assist with MHE repairs when required.
  • Attend customer sites to carry out repairs and inspections when necessary.
  • Liaise professionally with internal departments and customers to provide excellent service.
  • Undertake additional duties as requested by the Workshop Supervisor
About You

We're looking for a hands-on engineer with strong fault-finding skills and a passion for delivering high-quality workmanship.

Essential Requirements
  • Electrical and/or mechanical engineering background.
  • Experience working within a workshop environment.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good IT skills and experience using computer-based systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Experience with lithium-ion battery maintenance and repair.
  • Electrical engineering qualification or relevant experience.
  • Experience working with CANBus diagnostic systems.
  • Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) experience.
  • Knowledge of battery technology and energy storage systems.
