Job Description

Interaction Designer Rate: £530 per day (Inside IR35) Duration: 4 Months Clearance: Active SC Clearance required Location: Remote (Government Client / Public Sector) Overview We are seeking an experienced Interaction Designer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering digital services within a government cyber policy portfolio.

Working alongside User Researchers, Service Designers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Engineers, you will help design intuitive, accessible, and user-centred digital services that support critical public sector functions.

This role is well suited to candidates with strong GDS experience, who can confidently translate user needs into high-quality interaction designs within agile delivery environments.

Key Responsibilities Design user-centred interactions for digital services, from discovery through to live<br />Produce deliverables including wireframes, user flows, and prototypes<br />Collaborate closely with User Researchers to translate insights into effective design solutions<br />Work alongside Service Designers, Product Managers, Developers, and Business Analysts<br />Ensure designs meet GDS Service Standards and accessibility requirements (WCAG)<br />Iterate designs based on research findings, usability testing, and stakeholder feedback<br />Participate in workshops and contribute to multidisciplinary team activities<br />Apply design patterns and best practices to ensure consistency across servicesKey Skills &amp; Experience Proven experience as an Interaction Designer in Agile environments<br />Strong background in designing user-centred digital services<br />Proficiency in tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar<br />Experience producing:<br />User flows<br />Wireframes<br />Interactive prototypes<br />Design specifications<br />Solid understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG)<br />Strong communication and stakeholder management skills<br />Comfortable working within multidisciplinary delivery teamsDesirable Experience Previous experience within Central Government, GDS, or wider Public Sector<br />Exposure to cyber, security, or policy-led digital programmes<br />Familiarity with the GDS Design System and Government Service Standard<br />Experience working on high-profile or sensitive programmesSummary This is a great opportunity for an Interaction Designer to contribute to the delivery of user-centred digital services within a government environment.
