Duration

Scope

Reports to

Head of Supply Chains Operation and Product

About the role

We are hiring a senior Coupa Solution Architect to lead a 2–3 years Coupa implementation across our client's United States and Mexico operations. This is a leadership role. You will own the end-to-end solution, from design through phased go-lives and stabilization, and serve as the client's trusted authority on Coupa.

You will set the solution vision, lead functional and technical teams, and make the design decisions that hold up across two countries, two tax regimes, and multiple business units. You will work directly with finance, procurement, AP, IT, and executive stakeholders, and you will be accountable for delivering a platform the business adopts and relies on.

Key responsibilities

Solution leadership

  • Own the overall Coupa solution architecture and roadmap for the full program, across all phases and both countries.
  • Serve as design authority: run design workshops, make and document key design decisions, and keep the solution consistent across business units.
  • Lead and mentor functional consultants, integration developers, and client team members; set standards for configuration, documentation, and quality.
  • Act as the senior Coupa advisor to executive sponsors and the steering committee, presenting status, risks, and designing trade-offs in clear business terms.

Design and configuration

  • Translate procure-to-pay and source-to-pay business requirements into a scalable Coupa design.
  • Lead configuration across core modules, including Procurement, Invoicing, Expenses, Sourcing, Contract Lifecycle Management, Supplier Management, and Coupa Pay, as in scope.
  • Design approval chains, chart of accounts, commodity structures, and business-unit and legal-entity setup for a multi-country deployment.

Integration and data

  • Define the integration architecture between Coupa and the client's ERP and surrounding systems, using Coupa APIs, cXML, flat-file and SFTP integrations, and middleware.
  • Own the data migration strategy for suppliers, contracts, open purchase orders, and master data.
  • Partner with IT, security, and enterprise architecture to meet SSO, access, and data-protection requirements.

Mexico localization and compliance

  • Design the Mexico solution to meet local requirements, including CFDI electronic invoicing, SAT compliance, and VAT (IVA) and withholding treatment.
  • Coordinate with Coupa, tax, and local e-invoicing partners on Mexico invoice validation and supplier enablement.

Delivery and adoption

  • Plan and lead phased rollouts, including test strategy (SIT, UAT), cutover, go-live, and hyper care.
  • Drive supplier enablement and change management with business leads in both countries.
  • Identify, track, and resolve risks, dependencies, and design issues before they affect timelines.
  • Establish post-go-live support, governance, and a continuous-improvement backlog.

Required qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in procure-to-pay, source-to-pay, or ERP finance solutions.
  • 6+ years of hands-on Coupa experience, with at least 2 years as lead solution architect or design authority.
  • At least 3 full-lifecycle Coupa implementations delivered from design through go-live, including at least one multi-country or multi-entity rollout.
  • Current Coupa certification in one or more core modules.
  • Deep functional knowledge of Coupa Procurement and Invoicing, plus working knowledge of Expenses, Sourcing, CLM, Supplier Management, or Coupa Pay.
  • Proven experience designing Coupa integrations with a major ERP (SAP S/4HANA or ECC, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or NetSuite).
  • Track record of leading cross-functional teams and presenting to executive stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex design choices clearly.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% within the US and to Mexico.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior Coupa implementation in Mexico, including CFDI e-invoicing and SAT compliance.
  • Professional working proficiency in Spanish.
  • Experience as a Coupa partner architect or with Coupa Professional Services.
  • Experience with middleware such as Dell Boomi, MuleSoft, or SAP Integration Suite.
  • Background in manufacturing, distribution, or other multi-site, multi-entity organizations.
  • Familiarity with Coupa Analytics, Spend Guard, or Supply Chain Design and Planning.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, or a related field.

What success looks like in year one

  • Solution blueprint and integration architecture approved by the steering committee.
  • First-wave US go-live delivered on schedule, with stable invoice processing and purchase-order flow.
  • Mexico design finalized and validated for CFDI and SAT compliance.
  • Supplier enablement plan in place, with priority suppliers onboarded.
  • A capable client team trained to own day-to-day configuration and support.

Working conditions and how to apply

  • Remote, with up to 30% travel to US and Mexico sites. Expect heavier travel during design workshops, testing, and go-live periods.
  • Core collaboration hours in US Central Time.
  • A valid passport is required for travel to Mexico.

To apply, send your resume along with a short summary of the Coupa implementations you have led. Please include the modules, countries, ERP integrated, and your role on each.
