Data Architect (Senior/Principal)

Location: Remote, with occasional travel to Blandford, Dorset

This role would suit someone with a strong Data Engineering background who has progressed into architecture, platform design and strategic delivery, helping define how complex data systems are integrated, governed and developed.

Data Architect Responsibilities

• Define data architecture, platform strategy and solutions across complex data environments.

• Lead the design of data platforms, migrations, data models and complex data pipelines.

• Shape technical delivery, ensuring data engineering and integration solutions meet wider architectural requirements.

• Support the delivery of data capabilities involving Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).

• Apply appropriate data governance, assurance and architectural frameworks, particularly for AI-enabled services.

• Work with technical stakeholders to develop robust, scalable data solutions aligned with operational requirements.

Data Architect Requirements

• Extensive experience across complex data environments, ideally progressing from Data Engineering into architecture and strategy.

• Strong experience in data platform architecture, data integration, data modelling and complex pipeline design.

• Knowledge of data governance, assurance frameworks and data migration.

• Experience delivering data capabilities associated with AI and Machine Learning.

• Understanding of assurance and governance frameworks for AI-enabled services.

• Active Security Check (SC) clearance.

• Experience within Army Digital, data fabric, Zodiac, software development or software-defined communications (Signals) would be advantageous.
