Job Description

The Production Engineer will bring extensive manufacturing and assembly experience within the Aerospace and Defence sector, with a proven ability to drive operational excellence. This role is focused on delivering and sustaining meaningful, long-term improvements across our cable and harness and box build manufacturing facility. By implementing structured, measurable process enhancements, the successful candidate will help achieve consistent month-on-month gains in quality, efficiency, and overall manufacturing performance.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Provide technical support to the Box Build production area, with responsibility to improve manufacturing capabilities in order to maintain a leading edge capabilityAct as the primary point of contact between members of the Product Group team and the Engineering department, taking responsibility for ensure all Engineering tasks are completed in line with expectationsManage projects to drive process improvements, applying best practice manufacturing techniques, driving the applications of leading edge technologies, and supporting continuous improvement philosophies within the businessDrive quality efficiency and effectiveness through application of lean methodology and other improvement tools with current production. Ensure all processes conform to internal and customer quality standardsIdentify equipment & systems that will enhance Manufacturing EfficiencyEnsure all control documents including work instructions, BOMs and routings are available and accurateCreate operator balance charts, develop and implement standard workSupport the development and design of new products from concept through to full production (NPI) with an emphasis on design for assembly and design for manufactureContribute to the preparation of the PPAP submissions, including Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs and MSAMonitor and report process improvements to ensure the gains are sustainedManage the configuration of internal and external project data packs, provide technical support through creating detailed an accurate job structures within the MPR system and creating production route cards and work instructionsMaintain and update internal manufacturing processes inline with company accreditations and customer requirementsSupport the business development teams with quotations and generating cost summariesSkills/Qualifications:
HNC qualified Engineer with experience in PCB productionExperience of NADCAP accredited production environment or similar is preferredAn understanding of process control methodologies to improve production qualityExperience of using quality tools such as FMEA, APQP, DMAIC, 8D and 5 WHYComputer literacy with an emphasis on Microsoft Office applicationsExperience in procuring capital equipmentCommunication and interpersonal skillsAble to coach and train employees on working more efficientlyAdditional InformationSECURITY All candidates must be in a position to obtain UK security clearance to SC level. Additional restrictions may apply on certain defence programmes.
