Applied AI Engineer - AI & Automation

About the Role

This is a founding-level AI engineering role at a seed-stage fintech group that acquires and transforms German tax advisory firms through proprietary technology. You will design and own the agentic AI foundation that powers real workflows for tax professionals, shipping production features from day one rather than doing research or prototyping in isolation.

What You'll Do

• Design and build the agentic AI foundation underpinning the core product platform.

• Ship the first AI use cases directly into tax advisory workflows, iterating on real user feedback from advisory teams.

• Own the AI infrastructure end-to-end, from architecture decisions through to production deployment.

• Work closely with tax professionals to translate domain needs into working software quickly.

What We're Looking For

• 3 to 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong focus on shipping production-ready AI features.

• Hands-on experience building agentic systems: LLM orchestration, agent frameworks, and tool use.

• Solid software engineering fundamentals; NestJS and/or React experience is a strong plus.

• Product-minded approach that prioritises business outcomes alongside technical quality.

• University degree in a relevant field.

• Tech-first mindset, no reliance on low-code tools.

• Experience with RAG pipelines, vector databases, or document processing is a plus.

• Background in tax, legal, accounting, or professional services is a plus.

• Startup or early-stage experience is a plus.

• German language proficiency is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: 60,000 to 120,000 EUR annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Location

On-site in Berlin, Germany. Remote work is not available for this position.
