Job Description Job Description

RF Manager - Public Safety & Cellular DAS

Full-Time On-Site / Field $120,000-$155,000 (commensurate with experience)

About the Role

We're hiring an RF Manager to lead our RF Department - a team of iBwave designers, PCTEL walk testers, and system performance engineers and commissioners - delivering Public Safety DAS (ERCES/BDA) and Cellular DAS from design through AHJ and carrier acceptance.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You'll own design quality, code compliance, and system performance on every project, and you'll be the authority your team and our AHJs rely on.

What You'll Do
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the RF team: iBwave designers, PCTEL walk/grid testers, and performance/commissioning engineers.

  • Review and approve iBwave designs for Public Safety (ERCES/BDA) and cellular DAS before submittal to AHJs, carriers, and clients.

  • Serve as technical lead for AHJ coordination - code interpretation (NFPA 72/1221, IFC, state/local amendments), plan review submittals, and resolution of comments through final acceptance.

  • Ensure designs meet code-required signal levels, survivability, and battery backup requirements, and carrier KPIs (RSRP, SINR, throughput) on cellular systems.

  • Oversee grid, sweep, and PIM testing, commissioning, and acceptance testing; drive troubleshooting and optimization when systems miss thresholds.

  • Set and maintain design standards, documentation, as-builts, and permit packages; translate code changes into updated standards.

  • Support sales engineering with conceptual designs, BOMs, and technical scope for proposals.

Must-Haves
  • iBwave Level 3 certification with expert-level proficiency - you'll be reviewing and approving your team's designs.

  • NICET Design Certification.

  • Advanced RF theory: propagation, link budgets, antenna theory, interference, and performance metrics.

  • Deep knowledge of Public Safety DAS/ERCES code requirements (NFPA, IFC) and direct AHJ/fire marshal experience through permitting and acceptance.

  • 5+ years in in-building wireless (DAS/ERCES/BDA), including leading designers or field teams.

  • Hands-on experience with PCTEL (or equivalent) walk testing, grid testing, sweep and PIM testing, and RF test equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Nice-to-Haves
  • GROL License

  • Design experience on DAS platforms from ADRF, Comba, Corning, JMA, SOLiD, Andrew, or similar; BDA manufacturer certifications.

  • Carrier small cell and neutral-host / multi-carrier deployment experience.

  • Familiarity with FCC licensing and carrier design submission platforms.

Compensation & Benefits

$120,000-$155,000, commensurate with experience. Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance; PTO; Paid Holidays; Life Insurance; 401(k).
