At CPC, we help clients solve some of the UK's most complex engineering, infrastructure and operational challenges. We deliver specialist systems engineering, integration, assurance, safety and operational readiness services across highly regulated sectors including rail, nuclear and energy.
We are looking to appoint an experienced Principal Consultant, or, Associate Director with a background in Human Factors to play a leading role in the growth of our Human Factors capability. This is an exciting opportunity for a recognised specialist who can provide technical leadership, build client relationships and deliver high-quality consultancy services within major rail or nuclear programmes.
The Role
You will lead the delivery of Human Factors projects while supporting business growth through client engagement, technical excellence and team development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading Human Factors assignments across rail, nuclear and other safety-critical sectors
- Delivering Human Factors Integration (HFI) activities across the project lifecycle
- Planning and undertaking task analyses, workload assessments, usability studies and human reliability assessments
- Supporting hazard identification, risk assessment and safety case development
- Providing Human Factors input into system design, operational concepts and operational readiness activities
- Producing high-quality technical reports, recommendations and client presentations
- Acting as a trusted advisor to clients and key stakeholders
- Supporting business development activities, bid submissions and framework opportunities
- Mentoring and developing junior consultants and technical specialists
- Contributing to the continued development of CPC Systems' Human Factors methodologies and service offerings
- At Associate Director level you will have responsibility for business development
About You
We are looking for a commercially aware consultant with strong technical expertise and experience operating within regulated environments.
You will ideally have:
- Degree qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Systems Engineering or a related discipline
- Significant Human Factors consultancy experience within the r ail or nuclear sectors
- Demonstrable experience delivering Human Factors Integration activities on complex projects
- Strong understanding of relevant Human Factors standards, guidance and regulatory expectations
- Experience supporting safety cases, assurance activities or regulatory submissions
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Strong report writing and presentation abilities
- The ability to lead technical workstreams and manage client relationships
- Chartered status or progress towards Chartership
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF) or equivalent professional body
- Experience working within Systems Engineering environments
- Familiarity with Human Reliability Analysis techniques
- Experience supporting major infrastructure, nuclear or energy programmes
